Boston Public Library Passport
The Boston Public Library Passport booklet is available for free at every Boston Public Library branch. It includes walking routes between all 26 library branches and a unique passport stamp available at each branch. The goal of this project is to link the city and the library in a new way; whether traveling to familiar branches or neighborhoods they’ve never visited, users are guided through their city using library branches as the starting and ending destinations. I had the opportunity to collaborate with a wonderful team on this project, including Boston Public Library librarians and members of the library's communications and Leventhal Map & Education Center teams.
SCOPE
– Design concept and booklet layout
– 26 library branch illustrations & stamps
– 25 maps illustrations
– BPL Passport logo
Satisfyingly, 26 library branches meant that we could label them from A to Z!
The library branches are color-coded in a gradient from BPL Orange to BPL Magenta to help orient users along the walking route.
Each library branch has a spread that teaches users about the branch’s history and provides a space to receive the commemorative stamp.
The maps show walking routes between library branches, as well as public parks and landmarks, main street districts, and public transportation hubs.
